Triple Win for Sylvian Care Reading & Wokingham at the Berkshire Care Awards

Sylvian Care Reading & Wokingham is celebrating a remarkable achievement after taking home three major awards at the 2025 Berkshire Care Awards, an event that recognises excellence and dedication within the adult social care sector.

The team proudly received:

  • Home Care Worker of the Year - Rashid Iqbal

  • Care Coordinator of the Year - Leanne Vaughan

  • Care Service Recognition Award - Sylvian Care Reading & Wokingham team

Rashid Iqbal, who joined the organisation in 2022 as an international care worker, is known for his calm, compassionate nature and person-centred approach, Rashid takes time to understand each client and he also mentors new carers.

Leanne Vaughan, who became Care Coordinator in September 2024, has brought energy, empathy, and precision to the role. Despite being new to the area, she personally mapped every route, and she has also met every client to ensure seamless support. Her unwavering dedication to both staff and clients makes her the backbone of the service. Her award was presented by iconic fashion designer David Emmanuel.

The Care Service Recognition Award, presented by Iftkhar Ahmed, Commissioning Manager for Older People Services at Wokingham Borough Council, reflected the team's community involvement. Sylvian Care actively advocates for older adults and supports local partnerships through monthly educational talks at the bowls club, collaboration with local day centres, and strong links with public and private organisations. Their proactive engagement ensures staff remain informed and the community stays connected to vital resources.

The Berkshire Care Awards, hosted by the Berkshire Care Association, gathered care professionals from across the county to celebrate innovation, compassion, and excellence in care.
