Sylvian Care Farnham Celebrates New “Good” CQC Rating
We are absolutely delighted to share that Sylvian Care Farnham has received a Good rating from the Care Quality Commission, following its recent assessment last week.
This is a fantastic achievement for the Farnham team and a proud moment for everyone connected to the service. The rating reflects the dedication, compassion and professionalism the team shows every single day while supporting people to live safely and confidently in their own homes.
Speaking about the achievement, the Farnham team said:
“All our hard work has been rewarded! Our team is very happy too.”
A strong start for a newly registered service
Sylvian Care Farnham is a domiciliary care agency registered to support younger and older adults, including people living with dementia, mental health conditions and physical disabilities. This was the first assessment of the newly registered service, making this achievement even more meaningful for the team.
The report also highlighted that care and support were effective, with consistently positive outcomes for people using the service. People’s needs were assessed comprehensively before care began and reviewed regularly to ensure their support continued to be suitable as those needs changed.
This is exactly what good home care should look like: thoughtful, responsive and centred around the person receiving care.
Kind, compassionate and respectful care
One of the strongest themes in the feedback gathered by inspectors was the kindness and professionalism of the care team.
People using the service and their relatives described staff as caring, respectful, gentle and reliable. One person said:
“They are very caring, they help me with everything, they wash and dress me. They are very gentle. They chat, we talk about our children.”
Another person shared:
“The carers are kind, caring, and respectful.”
A relative added:
“100% they are very kind and caring towards my mum.”
This kind of feedback means so much because it speaks directly to the experience of the people receiving care. It shows that the Farnham team are not only delivering practical support, but also building warm, trusting relationships with clients and families.
The CQC noted that people experienced care that was kind, compassionate and focused on what mattered to them. People said they felt comfortable and safe with the staff supporting them in their own homes, and described positive, trusting relationships with the team.
That is something truly worth celebrating.
Giving families peace of mind
For many families, good home care is about much more than practical support. It is about confidence, trust and peace of mind. Families need to know their loved ones are safe, respected and being cared for by people who notice the details.
One relative told inspectors:
“I have peace of mind. Sylvian Care is so conscientious, noticing every little change, whether it is a missing drug from the pharmacist, a pressure sore just starting or a piece of equipment that could help in some way. She is an absolute wonder woman! She gives us peace of mind and my family member has the best care ever.”
Another person explained how the service had helped them maintain their quality of life:
“The service is based on a thorough assessment before any commitment is made but remains flexible and focused on my changing needs. I am wholly satisfied with the service provided and believe it has been a key factor in maintaining and even improving the quality of my life in what are, for me, very difficult circumstances.”
This feedback reflects the Farnham team’s commitment to providing personalised care that adapts to each person’s needs, preferences and circumstances. It also highlights something at the heart of Sylvian Care: supporting people to live with dignity, independence and confidence at home.
Safe, flexible and well-led support
The CQC report praised Sylvian Care Farnham’s approach to safety, planning and leadership.
Inspectors found that the provider had a “proactive and positive culture of safety, based on openness and honesty.” They also noted that lessons were learnt and used to continually identify and embed good practice.
The report highlighted several strengths, including:
Comprehensive face-to-face pre-admission assessments for everyone using the service.
Clearly recorded environmental risk assessments.
Contingency plans to ensure vulnerable people could continue receiving care during emergencies.
Regular reviews to make sure support remained appropriate and responsive to change.
Strong partnership working with health and social care professionals.
These are the foundations of a strong, safe and reliable care service. They show that the Farnham team are not simply reacting to needs as they arise, but actively planning ahead, learning, improving and making sure people are supported in the right way.
First-class communication
Communication was another area praised by people using the service and their families.
One person said:
“The communication from the office is first class.”
Another shared that the registered manager had been extremely helpful in arranging care at short notice:
“RM has proved extremely helpful in fitting us into their schedule at short notice, going out of his way to arrange times most suitable for us.”
People also told inspectors that staff attended care visits as planned and that they were informed if staff were going to be late.
This kind of reliability and communication makes a huge difference. For clients and families, knowing what is happening, who is visiting and when support will arrive can bring real reassurance. It helps people feel informed, respected and in control of their care.
